Part time Year 1 1:1 Teaching Assistant - Longbridge

Are you a compassionate and dedicated individual with a passion for supporting students with special educational needs?

We are currently working exclusively with a primary school in Longbridge who are seeking a skilled and caring SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join their team, starting in September 2023. This position is specifically to support a Year 1 student with ASD and ADHD, for a full academic year, on a part time basis (3 days per week and one of those must be Friday)

About the role

As a SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and social development of the student. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one support and assistance to the student throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during specific activities
  • Implementing personalized learning plans and strategies to meet the student's individual needs and learning goals
  • Promoting positive behaviour management techniques and implementing strategies to support the student's emotional well-being
  • Collaborating closely with the class teacher and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring and recording the student's progress and providing feedback to the teacher and parents/guardians regularly
  • Assisting with classroom activities, including preparing materials, facilitating small group work, and supporting the student's participation in group activities
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the student, establishing a safe and nurturing environment for their learning

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Have a genuine passion for working with students with special educational needs, particularly those with ASD and ADHD
  • Possess relevant experience working as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, preferably supporting students with ASD and ADHD
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of autism and ADHD and familiarity with appropriate strategies and interventions
  • Showcase excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with teachers, parents/guardians, and external professionals
  • Display patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach, ensuring the student's well-being and emotional needs are met
  • Hold relevant qualifications or certifications in special educational needs, such as a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent
